A Raleigh native with a builder's understanding of golf equipment and a player's eye for ball flight, Daniel founded Top Shelf Golf to make high-level fitting personal, understandable and free from brand pressure.
Raleigh roots, national-level fitting
Daniel grew up in Raleigh before serving honorably for eight years in the United States Army, where he played All-Army golf. After returning to North Carolina, he entered the Professional Golf Management program at NC State University.
He spent three years training under the guidance of a Top 100 premier fitter and earned Master Fitting certification from Golfsmith International. Daniel later joined the Lonnie Poole Golf Course staff, where he serves as PGA Director of Player Development and leads the club-fitting operation.
His background extends beyond selecting components. With extensive knowledge of golf-club engineering, design, construction and quality control, Daniel understands how a fitting recommendation must translate into an exact, repeatable build.
The fitting philosophy
Great equipment does not ask you to become a different golfer. It supports the motion and intent you bring to the course.
Your goals, tendencies and preferences define the job before any new component enters the test.
A recommendation should improve the group of shots—not simply produce the longest single number.
Buy through Top Shelf Golf or take the specifications elsewhere. The fitting must be useful either way.
Daniel and the Lonnie Poole fitting team have been recognized among the leading club fitters in North America.
